Welcome to all prospective writers. To put it simply, we are looking for the best local talent to join us as we create one amazing issue after another. Please read the position description below.
Writing Contributors Compensation
1400-1430 Words without spaces $300.00
680-700 Words without spaces $200.00
470-500 Words without spaces $100.00
230-250 Words without spaces $60.00
Description
Now taking intelligent helpful editorial on a monthly basis. Articles selected will be compensated at the above rates. Written on suggested topics as they pertain to the specific location; conversation/ observation/ participation and speculation. Each submission should be bold and challenging. Most of all it needs to have value to the residents of each location.
If you are looking to contribute to the cultural integrity and open communication in your community, we invite you to send your writing submission as often as you like and you may land the position as the local editor at large in the process.
All writing submissions deadlines are between 1ST and 15TH of the prior month to the issues print date.
All applicants whom have their submissions selected for print will be notified of their status via e-mail or telephone.
Look at your writing contribution as an opportunity for neighbor helping neighbor to understand and learn how to better survive in the town where they live based on their unique life experiences. No B.S. No Spin. Each issue is like a real-life MBA at your family’s and neighbor’s fingertips.
Article Criteria
1. Submissions must be original works (not featured in other publications) and submitted by the author
2. Subject must be reflective of daily life opportunities/ choices in one of theses locations (Woodstock, White Plains, Yonkers, Hampton Bays and Southampton)
3. Author must be a current resident of one of these towns: Woodstock, White Plains, Yonkers, Hampton Bays and Southampton.
4. Each selection must be accompanied by a 60 word minimum description, plus all reasonable, relevant contact details.
5. May only be submitted once.
6. No political themes
7. No press releases
8. No fiction
9. No Interviews
10. Applicant must provide two self photographs (waist up) with each submission
11. Word count minimum 600 maximum 750 including spaces
12. Ariel (font) 12 points, standard word document
13. *We are not creating adverts
14. Time sensitive (applying to issues in the community developing/ happening within the last 30 days)
